Lobby Ambassador
Part Time

Shangri-La Sydney is the city's leading luxury hotel. Located in the historic Rocks district between the Sydney Opera and Harbour Bridge, our hotel offers 564 spacious and inspired luxury guests rooms and suites, 4 food & beverage outlets and 18 functions rooms.

 

As the Lobby Ambassador, to exude the essence of Shangri-La by maintaining maximum lobby presence, actively seeking guest contact to ensure customer delight, assisting with VIPs and keeping up to date with current events/activities/functions/groups and city wide attractions and/or events.

 

Your duties will include:

  •  Maintains maximum presence in Hotel foyer, actively seeking interaction with guests/patrons (e.g. welcomes & farewells guests) to assure customer delight.
  • Takes responsibility for customer satisfaction, tending to complaints/enquiries and maintaining a log of activity for items that may require follow up.
  • Review daily list of VIP guests arriving and prepare/conduct in-room Check in where applicable. Review next day’s arrival in anticipation of guest needs.
  • Is familiar with local surrounds / entertainment / attractions / city wide events or functions / restaurants and points of interest.
  •  Is fully conversant and knowledgeable with all aspects of Hotel facilities / rooms, suites & rates / operating hours / upcoming and current promotions and events / group movements & conferencing and Hotel PMS.
  • Give follow up call to VIPs on final day before check out to seek feedback, ask if wake up call or transportation can be arranged and enter their departure time in system for seeing off.
  •  Facilitate Performance Monitor and Preference Pad programs.
  •  Assist with supervision of other Lobby personnel to ensure professional appearance of foyer at all times and encourage positive guest contact.
  • Provides translation service and assists with group check in where necessary.
  • Maintain constant and clear communication with other Hotel personnel to assure guest experience is uninterrupted not inconvenienced.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate Manager.

You will be under an hourly wage of pay as accorded by the HIGA Award 2020 under the Front Office Grade 2 classification. 

 

About the Role:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Exposure to hotel environment
  • Knowledge of Opera PMS
  • Proven ability to work under pressure
  • Able to work on a rotating roster
