Shangri-La Sydney is seeking a passionate and dedicated Commis Chef to join our Pastry Kitchen and contribute to creating exceptional dining experiences for our valued colleagues and guests.
About the Role
As a Commis Chef in our Pastry Kitchen, you will work closely with the Head Pastry Chef to produce high-quality desserts, pastries, and baked goods that align with Shangri-La’s world-class culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, and baked items under the guidance of the Head Pastry Chef
Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all pastry items
Work independently to prepare required quantities for service, following daily production schedules
Adhere strictly to portion control, recipes, and presentation standards
Minimise wastage and support cost control efforts by following proper storage and preparation techniques
Stay updated on current pastry trends and contribute creative ideas to the menu when appropriate
About You
Able to work in rotating shifts
Minimum of 6-month experience in any capacity kitchen or as a kitchen hand in a restaurant or hotel with similar standards.
Proficient in basic knife handling and kitchen equipment
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
You will be provided with strong guidance and the opportunity to grow your career in a friendly and harmonious work environment.
You must have working rights in Australia.
