Shangri-La Sydney is looking for a Bell Captain to join our team!
About the Role
The Bell Captain will oversee the day-to-day operation of permanent and casual Porters and Commissionaires with the assistance of the Service Leaders (Senior Porters), particularly their performance in the delivery/retrieval of guest luggage, meeting and greeting guests and assisting with general enquiries.
Co-ordinate the activities of both Service Leaders (Senior Porters) and Service Associates (Commissionaires & Porters) and assign tasks as necessary; ensure that all guest luggage is expediently handled and delivered and not “scattered” in either the Hotel’s lobby or at the main entrance.
Maintain an effective flow of communication within the Bell Department and co-ordinate with other Front Office and Hotel departments as necessary.
Attend the daily Front Office briefing or delegate the responsibility to a suitable
colleague. Share briefing notes from that forum with other colleagues on shift
Have thorough knowledge of all guest rooms and suites and their location and amenities; ensure that all Service Associates (Porters) are familiar with same.
Ensure that all assigned colleagues are familiar with hotel facilities, services and functions as well as city-wide events and local attractions.
Co-ordinate guest transportation and automobile needs as requested; supervise Service Associates (Commissionaires) in the maintenance and control of all vehicles on the Porte Cochere.
Produce fortnightly rosters for Service Leaders and all Service Associates. Use a yearly planner to assist with leave planning of Service Leaders and Associates in the department as approved by Chief Concierge or Guest Service Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Concierge or Senior Management team.
About You
Experience in Hotel Environment
Full Drivers Licence
Supervisory experience in a similar setting
Excellent communication skills in reading and writing English
Understanding of workplace practices in Work Health and Safety
You must have full working rights in Australia
