Shangri-La Sydney is looking for a Bell Captain to join our team!

 

About the Role

 

The Bell Captain will oversee the day-to-day operation of permanent and casual Porters and Commissionaires with the assistance of the Service Leaders (Senior Porters), particularly their performance in the delivery/retrieval of guest luggage, meeting and greeting guests and assisting with general enquiries.

 

  • Co-ordinate the activities of both Service Leaders (Senior Porters) and Service Associates (Commissionaires & Porters) and assign tasks as necessary; ensure that all guest luggage is expediently handled and delivered and not “scattered” in either the Hotel’s lobby or at the main entrance.
  • Maintain an effective flow of communication within the Bell Department and co-ordinate with other Front Office and Hotel departments as necessary.
  • Attend the daily Front Office briefing or delegate the responsibility to a suitable

    colleague. Share briefing notes from that forum with other colleagues on shift
  • Have thorough knowledge of all guest rooms and suites and their location and amenities; ensure that all Service Associates (Porters) are familiar with same. 
  •  Ensure that all assigned colleagues are familiar with hotel facilities, services and functions as well as city-wide events and local attractions.
  • Co-ordinate guest transportation and automobile needs as requested; supervise Service Associates (Commissionaires) in the maintenance and control of all vehicles on the Porte Cochere.
  • Produce fortnightly rosters for Service Leaders and all Service Associates. Use a yearly planner to assist with leave planning of Service Leaders and Associates in the department as approved by Chief Concierge or Guest Service Manager. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Concierge or Senior Management team.

About You

  • Experience in Hotel Environment
  • Full Drivers Licence
  • Supervisory experience in a similar setting
  • Excellent communication skills in reading and writing English 
  • Understanding of workplace practices in Work Health and Safety
  • You must have full working rights in Australia
