An opportunity exists for a Casual Commis Chef who is excited to work alongside award winning Executive Chef, Aaron Habgood and his highly dedicated team at the Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns. The Hotel Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 18 function venues and extensive food and beverage facilities, the hotel is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide. The Role As one of our Chefs you will work with a great team of people, all committed to ensuring we deliver on our service promise to our guests and clients. You will help cater for the increasing levels of business in all our food and beverage facilities including The Backyard - our hotel restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with space for private functions, corporate events, parties, etc. Successful candidates will also possess the following: - 1 – 2 years previous experience in a similar position (hotel environment desirable but not essential)
- Certificate III in Cookery
- Great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Knowledge of current workplace health and safety and hygiene practices
- Availability to work weekends and public holidays
